The Objective

Emilie Davis, owner of Whole Essentials Nutrition, and advocate for healing chronic health problems with a healthy diet, had a website that she was embarrassed to drive traffic to via her Instagram and Facebook channels. Having worked with a couple of designers, she despaired in finding someone who understood her voice and could translate her story into an appealing web presence. Then she connected with Suzanne, who helped her define her vision for the website.

New Website Requirements

  • Telling a complex story via an intuitive information hierarchy that allows users to consume content at their own pace.
  • Spotlight Emilie’s primary services areas, without limiting user exposure to her other products and service offerings.
  • Leverage Emilie’s image library to visually tell the story of her services.
  • Provide a persistent opportunity for users to directly connect with Emilie via Calendly integration on site.

The Solution

In the discovery phase of the project, Suzanne worked with Emilie to create content and gather visuals that illustrates Emilie’s suite of services and product offerings. In addition to helping people with chronic health issues by evolving their nutritional habits, Emilie sells supplements, recipe eBooks, and hosts cooking workshops and classes.

Suzanne worked with Emilie to define the service areas that make up the bulk of her revenue stream, and put content related to those areas at the top of the site’s information hierarchy. Understanding that Emilie’s goal is to grow her business, Suzanne ensured the site provides an intuitive path to other potential revenue streams from her eBooks and supplements.

In the UX phase of the project Suzanne architected the experience, using Sketch to produce mock-ups with which she and Emilie could collaborate on the user flow, content flow and look and feel of the website. In articulating Emilie’s vision for her new website, listening was as critical a skill as coding, content and graphic creation to the success of the project.

Emilie was thrilled with the final website and collaboration she enjoyed with Suzanne. And has found the website an essential and successful tool in growing her business.
